The President-Elect, Donald Trump, has selected Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Brendan Carr to serve as the next FCC Chair, beginning January 20, 2025. The Senate confirmed Carr for another term last year and thus his current term expires June 30, 2028; however, he could serve on the FCC through January 3, 2030, if the Senate does not confirm another nominee before that time. Reportedly, Carr had been considered the prohibitive favorite to Chair the FCC under the new Trump Administration given his strong ties to Trump and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
