T-Mobile USA Inc. and Space Explorations Holdings, LLC have jointly sought FCC relief to provide supplemental coverage from space for T-Mobile’s terrestrial network using SpaceX satellites.  SpaceX has filed a request for modification of its license for its second generation Starlink constellation satellites to add a direct-to-cellular communications capability while using 1910-1915 MHz and 1990-1995 MHz bands for links to end-user devices.  T-Mobile filed a long-term spectrum manager lease notification of its arrangement with SpaceX to use SpaceX satellites to provide supplemental coverage to T-Mobile’s terrestrial network using the same spectrum bands mentioned above.

The FCC has sought public comment on these filings.  Comments are due May 18, 2023, responses to comments are due May 29, 2023, and replies to responses are due June 2, 2023.
