In a move that would mark further contraction of the wireless industry, T-Mobile has agreed to acquire substantially all of UScellular’s wireless operations in a $4.4 billion deal. Specifically, T-Mobile would acquire about 30 percent of UScellular’s spectrum and all of its wireless customers and stores. T-Mobile also is entering into a long-term arrangement to lease space from UScellular on over 2,000 towers, as UScellular reportedly would remain in the tower business. Both companies indicated that they expect the transaction to close in mid-2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
