The U.S. Senate has confirmed David Redl to be Administrator of the National Telecommunications & Information Administration. NTIA oversees government spectrum use in much the same way the Federal Communications Commission oversees private spectrum use. Redl is the former chief counsel of the House of Representatives Energy & Commerce Committee Communications Subcommittee. Before joining the committee, Redl was director of regulatory affairs for CTIA-The Wireless Association, where he focused on spectrum policy and wireless broadband. President Trump nominated him to be NTIA Administrator in May 2017.
