The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC or Commission) Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) has granted a request for waiver submitted by RADWIN, Ltd. (Radwin) that will allow it to modify some of its certified Unlicensed National Information Infrastructure (U-NII) devices to operate with higher power in the 5.15-5.25 GHz and 5.725-5.850 GHz bands for a period of 60 days. Specifically, Radwin seeks to operate its point-to-multipoint, beamforming fixed wireless base stations at power levels up to 48 dBm, which is 12 dB above the Commission limit. OET grants this waiver as it finds that by allowing Radwin to operate its devices at higher power levels, it will deliver significant benefits to its customers that will allow them to stay connected during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
