The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Middle Mile Grant Program. The Middle Mile program was established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), with the aim of improving middle mile infrastructure in unserved and underserved areas. Middle mile infrastructure are connections between local broadband networks and robust, high-capacity national and regional networks. The Middle Mile program is open to a wide range of entities including State and tribal governments, technology companies, electric utilities, telecommunications providers, nonprofits, and economic development authorities. The window for submitting applications will open June 21, 2022, and close on September 30, 2022. More information for applicants is available on the NTIA Grants Portal.
