NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association (NTCA) filed a Petition for Rulemaking (Petition) seeking an amendment to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC or Commission) rules to relieve certain rate-of-return carriers of the obligation to submit audited financial statements.  NTCA proposes that this amendment would apply to companies that obtain high-cost universal service support through the Alternative Connect America Model (ACAM) or other mechanisms that derive from fixed support.  NTCA believes that this result would increase administrative efficiency for both the FCC and companies and reduce unnecessary costs and burdens.  Interested parties may file statements opposing or supporting the Petition within 30 days of the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau’s (Bureau) Public Notice publication.
