Representatives August Pfluger (R-TX) and Debbie Dingell (D-MI) have introduced legislation, the PROTOCOL Act (H.R. 9450), to improve the FCC’s Broadband Data Collection maps and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s broadband infrastructure funding database with better interagency coordination and information sharing. Specifically, the bill would request non-mandatory reports on state-based programs for inclusion in the FCC BDC maps and NTIA database and require other federal agencies to use the FCC BDC maps when awarding broadband infrastructure funding.
