The FCC’s Rural Broadband Auctions Task Force, Wireline Competition Bureau, and Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (Bureaus) released a Mobility Fund Phase II (MFII) Public Notice providing instructions for wireless providers to file 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) coverage data pursuant to the FCC’s MFII Challenge Process Order. That order mandates a special, one-time collection of 4G LTE coverage data that the FCC will use in conjunction with subsidy data to determine presumptively eligible areas for MFII support. The Public Notice provides data specifications, formatting information, and other technical parameters that filers will need to generate and submit their coverage data. Filers must collect and submit the data within 90 days of notice of the federal Office of Management and Budget’s approval of this one-time information collection request in the Federal Register, which has not yet occurred. The provider-specific information submitted as part of the data collection will be treated as confidential.
