In a 393-22 vote, the House overwhelmingly passed the Future Uses of Technology Upholding Reliable and Enhanced (FUTURE) Networks Act (H.R. 1513), introduced by Rep. Doris Matsui (D-CA). The legislation would require the FCC to establish a 6G Task Force (Task Force), which would include industry, government, and public safety representatives. The Task Force would issue a report on the role of standards-setting bodies in the deployment of 6G, 6G use cases, potential threats that include supply chain or cybersecurity vulnerabilities, interagency coordination, and deployment promotion.
