House Republicans on the Oversight and Reform Committee have asked acting FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel to provide information by November 4 about rural Internet access and how the FCC has dealt with Internet service quality complaints. The members have specifically requested the FCC to provide: (1) a list of rural broadband providers and their coverage areas; (2) the number of filed complaints regarding Internet speed, access, and customer support; (3) a list of the top ten companies with the largest number of complaints received; (4) the steps that the FCC has taken to address broadband complaints; (5) the number of enforcement actions the FCC Enforcement Bureau has taken in 2021 and the results of such actions; (6) a detailed explanation on when the FCC will release updated broadband maps; and (7) an explanation of whether and how the FCC is encouraging competition in rural areas.
