The FCC has unanimously adopted a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking inviting comment on proposals to change its semiannual Form 477 broadband data collection. The as-yet released FNPRM contains proposals to increase the granularity of the data collection to improve accuracy while also simplifying collection processes, which have been criticized as being convoluted and burdensome particularly for small and rural providers. The FCC will not rely on Form 477 data for the Mobility Fund Phase II challenge process and instead will conduct a one-time separate data collection. Comment deadlines on the FNPRM will be established upon its release.
