The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau has waived the Tribal-specific interim and final performance deadlines for all 2.5 GHz Rural Tribal Priority Window licensees. In 2019, the Commission had adopted accelerated performance requirement deadlines for Tribal window licensees. But given the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain shortages that have made it more difficult for Tribes to obtain wireless and related infrastructure equipment, the Bureau has determined that a waiver is necessary to give these licensees the flexibility needed to complete their deployments.
Tribal window licensees will now be subject to the performance deadlines of other 2.5 GHz licensees and thus will have a four-year interim performance requirement and eight-year final performance requirement. Performance deadlines are set from the date of the initial license grant.
