The FCC has updated the E-Rate program’s rules to allow Tribal libraries to apply in the program’s filing window that opened on January 12, 2022 and closes on March 22, 2022. Specifically, the FCC has updated the definition of “library” in E-Rate program rules to include Tribal libraries, allowing them to access funding to implement affordable internet access in Tribal communities.
Additionally, the FCC’s Office of Native Affairs and Policy, the FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau, and the Universal Service Administrative Company will develop outreach plans and program training for Tribal libraries.
