The FCC’s initiative to streamline current rules and eliminate outdated and unnecessary requirements continues. The FCC has commenced a rulemaking to eliminate rules requiring certain broadcast and cable entities to keep paper copies of FCC rules on hand. These rules have been often criticized since paper copies of the rules were frequently outdated soon after, and in some cases before, they were published. The availability of up-to-date rules from electronic sources provides cheaper and more timely access to the rules in their current form.
