As directed by Congress in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021, the FCC is seeking comment on current and future spectrum issues related to the Internet of Things (IoT). The FCC is specifically seeking comment on: (1) whether adequate spectrum is available for commercial wireless services that could support IoT growth; (2) how to ensure that sufficient spectrum is available for increased demand; (3) regulatory barriers to providing needed spectrum that would support uses relating to IoT; and (4) the role of unlicensed and licensed spectrum in IoT growth.
