The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau is seeking comment on the Midland Radio Corporation’s petition for a waiver of certain FCC rules governing the General Mobile Radio Service operations in the 462 MHz band. Midland has specifically requested that the FCC waive rules to allow: (1) digital data transmission for non-handheld radios; (2) automatic transmission of digital data more than once within a thirty-second period; and (3) the antennas to be a non-integrated part of the GMRS unit. Comments are due November 12 and reply comments are due November 26.
