The Federal Communications Commission’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau and Wireless Telecommunications Bureau have released a Public Notice seeking comment on a Petition for Rulemaking filed by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International, Inc. (APCO) requesting that the FCC revise its rules to facilitate 5G deployments in the 4.9 GHz band. Specifically, APCO requests that the FCC modify the power limits and out-of-band emissions limits to more closely align with the FCC’s limits governing mobile broadband deployments. Comments on the Petition are due April 25, 2025, and reply comments are due May 12, 2025.
