The FCC has updated its regulatory framework for the delivery of broadband services through satellite systems by updating, clarifying and streamlining its current rules governing non-geostationary satellite orbit (NGSO) fixed-satellite service (FSS) systems to better reflect current technology and promote additional operational flexibility. The Commission also adopted a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to examine whether to provide satellite operators additional flexibility by allowing them to deploy innovative new system designs that target particular areas.
