The FCC has sent letters to Charter Communications, Cox Communications, Inc., and Starry, Inc. expressing concerns that verification processes serving as an alternative to the National Verifier, although allowed by law, may result in improper enrollments under the Affordable Connectivity Program. The Commission has requested that these providers confirm the eligibility of their ACP subscribers, approved through any alternative verification process, through the National Verifier by June 15, 2023. The FCC also announced additional steps it is taking to protect ACP Program integrity, including: (1) investigating inconsistencies and irregularities in enrollment verification; and (2) directing the Universal Service Administrative Company to strengthen program integrity reviews into the use of alternative verification processes.
