The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC or Commission) Wireline Competition Bureau (WCB) and Office of Economics and Analytics (OEA) have released their results from the Supply Chain Security Information Collection as directed by the 2019 Supply Chain Order. WCB and OEA estimate, based on eligible telecommunications carriers’ (ETCs) reporting, that it would cost approximately $1.837 billion to replace and remove Huawei and ZTE equipment from their networks. When only including ETCs that would be eligible for reimbursement, under the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act’s reimbursement program, WCB and OEA estimate that $1.618 billion would be needed for replacement and removal. The Commission notes that there may be other providers who did not report but are still eligible for reimbursement. The Public Notice lists all the ETCs that reported existing Huawei or ZTE equipment and services in their networks.
