The FCC is ready to authorize an additional $313 million for Rural Digital Opportunity Fund, Auction 904, broadband deployments in 19 states, amounting to nearly 130,000 locations. To date, over $5 billion has been authorized through Auction 904 to provide new broadband deployments in 47 states, amounting to 2.8 million locations.
The Commission has furthered its efforts to ensure compliance with the program rules through its Rural Broadband Accountability Plan by: (1) sending letters to applicants concerning areas where there was evidence of existing service or questions of waste; (2) denying waivers for winning bidders that have not made appropriate efforts to secure state approvals; and (3) conducting an extensive technical, financial, and legal review of winning bidders.
