The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) has released a list of entities (i.e. the Covered List) that have been deemed to pose a national security threat, as prescribed by the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act. The Covered List names five Chinese companies that manufacture telecommunications and video surveillance equipment: (1)Huawei Technologies Co.; (2) ZTE Corp.; (3) Hytera Communications Corp.; (4) Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co.; and (5) and Dahua Technology Co. The PSHSB will update the Covered List if other communications equipment or services are determined to pose a national security threat under the law.
