The FCC has adopted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing to require that broadband providers display easy-to-understand labels, at the point-of-sale, containing important information about those broadband services that will allow consumers to comparison shop. This would include showing prices, introductory rates, speeds, data allowances, network management practices, and other critical broadband service information.
The NPRM also seeks comment on how consumers evaluate broadband service plans and whether the current labels assist consumers with the purchase process and, if not, whether the labels should be updated.
