The FCC’s Office of Economics and Analytics and Wireline Competition Bureau have initiated the urban rate survey for 2023, which will collect data to establish voice and broadband reasonable comparability benchmarks for 2023.  The FCC will specifically gather rates offered by a random sample of fixed service providers identified using FCC Form 477 data from December 2021.  The Commission will collect fixed broadband service data in up to 2,000 urban census tracts and fixed voice service data in up to 500 urban census tracts.

On August 15, the FCC notified providers required to complete the survey. The Commission also sent these providers comprehensive information on how to access and complete the survey, and how to obtain technical assistance.  Completed surveys are due on September 19, 2022
