The FCC has adopted a Report assessing high-speed internet service deployment across the U.S. The Report concluded that advanced telecommunications capability is not being deployed in a reasonable and timely fashion. The Broadband Data Collection deployment data showed that approximately 24 million Americans do not have access to fixed terrestrial broadband service, excluding satellite services, and that 45 million Americans lack access to both 100 Mbps fixed service and 35/3 Mbps mobile 5G-NR service. The Report also notes that the FCC has raised the high-speed fixed broadband benchmark to 100/20 Mbps from the previous benchmark, 25/3 Mbps, set in 2015.
