The FCC has issued an Order granting a limited waiver of the FCC’s rules to Verizon Wireless regarding filing of certain data as part of the Broadband Data Collection. Specifically, the FCC is waiving the requirement that Verizon submit broadband availability and quality of service data for its 3G network as of December 31, 2022, in its March 1, 2023 BDC filing. The FCC reasons that it is in the public interest to grant Verizon this limited waiver considering that by the time the data is submitted into the BDC system, Verizon’s 3G network will no longer exist as it is being shut down on January 3, 2023.
