The Federal Communications Commission’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau has granted a temporary, limited waiver of the Commission’s requirements to support text telephony (TTY) technology over Internet-protocol (IP)-based wireless services to TracFone Wireless, Inc. The waiver expires December 31, 2017. Petitioners sought relief from TTY requirements that was similar to that granted to other TTY waiver petitioners like AT&T, Verizon, Cellular South, the Competitive Carriers Association, and the Iowa Independent Telephone Companies (ITC).
