In an effort to modernize its media rules, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) eliminated the requirements for cable operators to maintain a current listing of their television channels in their main office and post their channel lineup on the FCC-hosted online public inspection file. As channel lineups are readily available elsewhere such as through operators’ websites, third party websites, etc., the FCC has deemed these former requirements as unnecessary. Cable operators, however, must still send channel lineup information to their subscribers at least once a year and make the information available upon request.
