The FCC has adopted a Report and Order deferring the commencement of the next five-year deployment obligation term for legacy rate-of-return carriers receiving Connect America Fund Broadband Loop Support in 2024 until January 1, 2025.  The FCC has deferred the commencement of the next obligation term while it considers general program reforms in a pending proceeding.

Deferring the commencement of the next term will maintain the status quo for legacy carriers for 2024.  As such, legacy carriers will still be required to offer broadband service at speeds of at least 25/3 Mbps to the previously determined number of unserved locations under its current five-year term.
