The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau is seeking comment on extending the FCC’s letter of credit rules for Connect America Fund Phase II Auction support recipients. The Commission had previously waived the LOC rules for these support recipients in 2020 and 2021, recognizing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, while acknowledging improving financial conditions, the FCC extended the waiver, for certain recipients, through the end of 2023.
The Bureau seeks comment on extending the LOC waiver beyond December 31, 2023, for CAF Phase II Auction recipients that have met their deployment and certification deadlines and whether, and to what extent, there are existing conditions that are impeding providers’ ability to comply with the LOC requirements.
