The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) has issued an Order adopting two proposed clarifications in the funding year (FY) 2018 eligible services list (ESL) Public Notice and releasing the ESL for funding year FY2018 for the E-rate program. The Bureau first clarified that on-premises Network Equipment that has both Category One and Category Two functionalities is eligible for Category One support if it is necessary to make a Category One broadband service functional. The Bureau declined to list specific mixed-eligibility Network Equipment but says applicants can discuss their case with Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). The Bureau then found that inside wiring for a single building that houses two or more schools is eligible for Category Two support. The order authorized the USAC to open the annual application filing window 60 days after release of the Order.
