The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and Office of Economics and Analytics have approved the applications filed by T-Mobile and Horry Telephone Cooperative to conduct a spectrum swap involving the assignment of 600 MHz spectrum licenses from Horry to T-Mobile and the assignment of cellular spectrum licenses from T-Mobile to Horry.  The spectrum swap also involves a separate purchase agreement for assignment of additional 600 MHz spectrum licenses from Horry to T-Mobile.

Ultimately, the transaction would provide T-Mobile with a materially larger block of contiguous spectrum in the 600 MHz bands.  The Bureau and OEA collectively concluded that the proposed assignments would serve the public interest in providing enhanced 5G network coverage, capacity, and performance for American consumers.
