The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau (WTB) has released a Public Notice announcing that it will conduct a soft launch of its National Lifeline Eligibility Verifier (National Verifier) on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in the states of Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia. Once the National Verifier is in soft launch in those states, Eligible Telecommunications Carriers (ETCs) can adjust and test their systems and business processes before the FCC mandates the use of the National Verifier on a full-time basis. During the soft launch, only ETCs will have access to the National Verifier. During this period ETCs will also have access to a pre-production test environment within the National Verifier to improve their ability to conduct sample transactions and train their employees for readiness. The WTB began soft-launching the National Verifier in dozens of jurisdictions in late 2018. The National Verifier consumer portal can be found at www.checklifeline.org.
