The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau has announced the selection of UL LLC to serve as the Lead Administrator and Cybersecurity Label Administrator for the Internet of Things Cybersecurity Labeling Program. UL describes itself as a global leader in applied safety science. As the Administrator of the program, UL will be responsible for identifying, developing, and recommending IoT-specific standards and testing procedures for the program. The approval of UL to serve as the Administrator is conditioned upon its execution of a Trademark Use Agreement with the FCC as well as obtaining an International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) accreditation.
