At today’s Open Meeting, the FCC adopted a Mobility Fund Phase II (MFII) Report and Order (Order) and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM). The Order provides $453 million in annual support for winners of an MFII reverse auction. The term of support will be ten years, with the funding disbursed in monthly installments. Eligible areas include any portion of a census block not fully covered by unsubsidized 4G LTE coverage with a minimum advertised download speed of 5 Mbps. There will be a two-year legacy support phase out following the close of the MFII auction. The FNPRM will seek comment on the challenge process that will be used to determine which areas are eligible for MFII support.  More information can be found in a Commission Fact Sheet, available here.
