The FCC has voted to adopt the final rules for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), the long-term replacement of the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. The ACP will provide eligible households with up to a $30 per month discount on broadband services and up to a $75 per month discount on broadband services for households on Tribal lands. A $100 one-time discount on certain eligible devices will also be available to eligible households.
Eligible households include households that satisfy one of the following criteria: (1) have income at or below 200 percent of federal poverty guidelines; (2) participate in certain assistance programs; (3) households with kids receiving free and reduced-price lunch or school breakfast; (4) Pell grant recipients; or (5) if they meet eligibility criteria for a participating provider’s existing low-income program. The final rules have yet to be published.
