The FCC has released a public notice announcing that the Federal Register has published a summary Commission’s Digital Cable Standards Order, which was initially adopted on September 25, 2017. The majority of the rules adopted in the Digital Cable Standards Order will take effect on April 23, 2018, except for rule sections 76.105(b), 76.601(b)(1), 76.1610, and 76.1804, which contain new or modified information collection requirements that still require approval by the Office of Management and Budget. The Digital Cable Standards Order generally updated the FCC’s signal leakage and signal quality rules that apply to cable operators to reflect the cable industry’s transition from analog to digital systems.
