Earlier this year, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) released a series of federal agency transition plans in preparation for the November 2014 advanced wireless service (AWS)-3 spectrum auction (designated as Auction 97). NTIA and the Federal Communications Commission also jointly released a Public Notice detailing required procedures to coordinate spectrum usage with federal incumbents in the AWS-3 band. NTIA recently added a file on its Transition Plan and Transition Data webpage for the 1755-1780 MHz band with informational data on Department of Defense (DoD) Experimental Operations. DoD also posted a revised Workbook Information File, which explains that it may be beneficial to potential bidders to understand the extent of these secondary and non-interference basis operations. The Wireless Telecommunications Bureau strongly encourages Auction 97 applicants to examine the revised information.
