The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) has posted information comparing deployment obligations of model-based support versus reformed legacy universal service mechanisms including Connect America Fund-Broadband Loop Support (CAF-BLS). Alternative Connect America Cost Model (A-CAM) offers for 10 years of support were announced in August 2016 with a November 1, 2016 election deadline. Earlier this month, the Bureau posted five-year broadband deployment obligations that must be fulfilled by rate-of-return carriers remaining on the reformed legacy universal service mechanisms.
