The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WCB) and Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) (collectively the Bureaus) have updated the list of TV stations in the 470-512 MHz Band (T-Band) that must be protected in the sharing of spectrum between broadcast television and private land mobile radio (PLMR) services. The Commission expects that PLMR applicants will use this updated list when filing their applications. PLMR use is permitted in the T-Band where there are channels not assigned to a TV station. PLMR use must also maintain a fixed mileage separation with affected television stations.
Following the recent repeal of the T-Band Mandate, the Bureaus modified the suspension of processing applications and starting February 18, 2021 Commission-certified frequency coordinators will be permitted to pre-coordinate applications. On March 22, 2021, a 90-day window will open allowing incumbents to seek expanded access to the T-Band if they propose narrowband operations.
