The Senate has approved, by unanimous consent, the Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks (TAKE IT DOWN) Act (S. 4569), which would criminalize the publication, or threat of publication, of real or deepfake non-consensual intimate imagery. The bill would also require websites to take down such images within 48 hours of notification. This legislation was approved by the Senate Commerce Committee in July. The legislation is currently awaiting vote in the House.
