In order to ensure the continued ongoing rollout of the $200 million COVID-19 Telehealth Program funds, the FCC has waived and suspended for the program the “red light” rule, which withholds FCC action on applications and requests by an entity owing an FCC debt pending full payment or resolution. The FCC believes the red light rule suspension will facilitate prompt review and processing of applications for the $200 million funding program, which opened earlier this month to grant awards on a rolling basis to reimburse healthcare providers for telecommunications, broadband and information service costs in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
