The FCC has adopted a Report and Order that replaces hearing aid compatibility (HAC) reporting requirements with a different set of requirements.  Though service providers must continue to be HAC compliant at all times, they will no longer need to annually file Form 655 to report various data regarding their handset offerings.  Instead, service providers will be required to post and maintain up-to-date HAC information on their public websites and annually certify as to their compliance with the FCC’s HAC requirements.  Handset manufacturers, however, will continue to file Form 655 to demonstrate their HAC compliance.  The HAC Report and Order, which has not yet been released, will detail the transition process away from reporting.
